Larva and nymph: yellow to greenish
Antennae same length as body, dark brown at segmental sutures (1), processus terminalis equal to or slightly longer than base (2)
Abdomen covered with numerous long capitate hairs
Cornicles short (3)
Cauda short, rounded

Alate: yellow or greenish, even pink or purple in summer
Antennae same length as body, ringed with segmental sutures (1) with processus terminalis very short, equal to or slightly longer than base (2)
Abdomen with three pairs of tubercles (4) 3rd of which is clearly distinct by its size and pigmentation (5)
Cornicles straight, short and darkened at tip (3)
Cauda knobbed (6) on a bilobed anal patch
