Pteromalidae

Pteromalidae

The Pteromalidae family  (Chalcidoïdea) amount to more than 1000 species in Europe (over 4000 worldwide). Their size varies from 1.2-6.7 mm. The great majority of species are parasitoids affecting the diverse stages of insects and, more rarely, spiders. There are 28 known subfamilies but only two of them are hyperparasitoids of aphids: the Asaphinae with the genus Asaphes and Pteromalinae with the genera: Pachyneuron, Coruna and Euneura.
