Apterous: green, cornicles straight, caudicle on abdominal segment 8.
Alate: green, abdomen with dark patch, antennae short, cornicles straight, moderately long and pigmented, cauda short, presence of a caudicle on abdominal segment 8.

Dioecious holocyclic.

Hosts plants

Primary hosts: Salix fragilis (crack willow). Salix alba (white willow).
Secondary hosts: Apiaceae: Pastinaca (parsnip), Angelica, Heracleum (hogweed)

Particular characteristics

C. theobaldi colonizes especially the umbels of parsnips.
