Pullus auritus (Thunberg, 1795)

Morphology

Small ladybird with body completely covered with fine hair, head red.
Elytra completely black except for a narrow reddish border at the top.
Pronotum black in female and bicolorous  in male.

Diet

Its favorite prey are Phylloxera, aphids which colonize oaks. It can also consume Eucallipterus tiliae, lime-tree aphids and enjoys feasting on Acari.

Habitat

It is reported mainly on oaks.
