The principal characteristic of Phloeomyzinae is the presence of parthenogenetic females, always apterous, and sexual males and oviparous females (oviparae), all alates.

Only one genus Phloeomyzus.

The genus Phloeomyzus appears to contain just one species, Phloeomyzus passerinii.
