Fagus sylvatica, beech

Phyllaphis fagi proliferates under the young leaves of beech Fagus sylvatica. In reaction the leaf rolls up on the underside along the midvein (primary vein) and falls prematurely.
Colonies hidden under the white wooly wax are easy to identify.
