Morphological characters

1.6-2.0 mm.
Apterous: small, pale yellow to glossy green, cauda short; cornicles fine, long and pigmented.
Alate: green-blue, with marginal sclerites, antennae short and cornicles fine, long, slightly curved and pigmented, cauda short.

Monoecious holocyclic with males apterous.

Host plants   

Raspberry, wild and cultivated blackberry.

Particular characteristics

Aphis idaei can form dense colonies on shoots and on leaves which roll up and crinkle.
Colonies are visited by ants
