Apterous: greenish to translucent, individuals difficult to see, easily merging with color of leaves
Frons sinuate with median tubercle clearly marked, presence of hairs on head (1)
Antennae same length as body with processus terminalis fine and long (2)
Abdomen with hairs present
Cornicles long, cylindrical, with tip darkened (3)

Frons sinuate with median tubercle well marked
Antennae same length as body, fine, segment I prominent (5), numerous rhinaria on III (10-35) and IV (3à-11) *, processus terminalis very long (6)
Rostrum long, last segment slender with tip pigmented and preceded by a light-colored patch (giving the impression of having an additional segment)
Abdomen with dorsal patch, pigmented and rectangular (7)
Cornicles long, cylindrical,with tip darkened (8)
Cauda short (9)
Patellae and tarsi dark (10)

*The difference between alates of the two species Capitophorus horni and C. elaeagni can be spotted essentially in the number of rhinaria
                   C. horni: rhinaria on IV (5-8) on V (0-3)
                   C. elaeagni: rhinaria on IV (10-35) on V (3-11)
